Human IL-2 (Accession ID: P60568) is a 15.4 kDa four-alpha-helix bundle cytokine with 133 amino acids. IL-2, produced by T cells during an immune response, was initially called T-cell growth factor. It stimulates growth and differentiation, and enhances function of T-cells, B-cells and natural killer (NK) cells. IL-2 has many immunostimulatory and immunoregulatory functions and has been shown to activate the cytotoxic function of natural killer (NK) cells, T lymphocytes, and monocytes, and to promote the cytotoxicity of these effector cells against a wide variety of neoplasms. The production of large quantities of purified recombinant IL-2 by expression from Escherichia coli greatly facilitated research to elucidate the biological roles of IL-2 in the immune system and enabled the use of IL-2 as a therapeutic medicine in the treatment of cancer. IL-2 activates and stimulates the growth of immune cells like T-Cells as well as Natural Killer Cells (NK Cells) for attacking cancer cells.
Applications:
Technical notes:
Applications:
- The cultivation of human and murine IL-2 dependent T-cell lines and natural killer cell lines.
- The proliferation of mitogen-activated T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells.
- Stimulating growth of T-cells and natural killer cells that participate in the pathogenesis of cancer and metabolic, infectious, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
- The activation of regulatory T cells to produce the cytokines tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interferon gamma (IFN-γ).
Technical notes:
- Purity >98% by visualizing SDS-PAGE gel
- Specific activity/EC 50: ≥2 x 106 IU/mg. The ED50 was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of murine CTLL-2 cell proliferation.
- Endotoxin ≤ 0.1 EU/ml by the LAL assay
- Storage and Shipping: Stored in the PBS buffer. Upon arrival, keep the interleukin-2 in PBS buffer at 4°C and the lyophilized at -20 °C. Reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin-2 in d H2O above 100µg/ml and further dilute to the final concentration.
- Our IL-2 is 3 to 4-fold more effective than a brand product in the activation and stimulating growth of natural killer cells by cell proliferation assay.
